Bronx borough president offers new ways to deal with school violence

The Bronx borough president released a report Thursday offering new ways to deal with school violence in the Bronx.

The report called ?Who?s In Charge? outlines what the chain of command should be during a violent outbreak in schools. Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr. says the question of who is in charge during school violence has led to confusion for some school officials. He hopes schools will now follow his recommendations.

Three Council members say if the Department of Education and police officials are able to follow Carrion?s recommendations, they are optimistic school violence will decrease. Carrion says he would like Bronx school officials and the NYPD to implement his suggestions as soon as possible.
