Congressman Engel secures more than $5 million in federal funds for the Bronx

Congressman Eliot Engel (D-Bronx) has secured more than $5 million in federal funds for the Bronx as part of the Transportation Appropriations Bill. The money covers many local projects, including study, design and reconstruction of pedestrian walkways, redesign and reconstruction of the Putnam Rail-Trail and the Bronx River Greenway 233rd Street Connection. But before the Bronx can actually see the money, the bill still needs to be considered by both houses of Congress for final approval and then sent to the president to be signed into law.
