New York Civil Liberties Union files suit against NYPD over bag searches

The New York Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit Thursday against the New York Police Department over random bag searches.

Police began the random bag searches after the terror attacks on London?s subways. The union says the searches in subways are unconstitutional. The union believes the searches are not providing a public safety service.

Police officials say the criteria for the bag checks are totally random. They add they do not target anyone based on race or religion.
