Residents say two Fordham roads are hazardous to children and pedestrians

There are calls for Coles Lane and Poe Place to be cleaned up. Residents say these hazardous streets have become illegal trash dumps containing uneven or cracked sidewalks.

Parents say besides being an eyesore these streets need to be repaired because of their children. Many kids use these streets as playgrounds since they contain little to no traffic. The path is also a shortcut for pedestrians who plan to head towards the new Bronx library being built on Kingsbridge Road.

The Fordham Bedford Housing Corporation (FBHC) says they have tried to make improvementsbut ownership and property issues have prohibited them from doing so. FBHC says they currently have $600,000 for planned improvements but need almost $2.8 million to complete the renovation project.
