Many residents driving the wrong way on a Longwood street

Many residents confused by a street conversion are driving the wrong way down a Longwood street.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) recently changed part of Leggett Avenue from a two-way street to a one-way street. DOT officials say the conversion is necessary to ease traffic congestion from Hunts Point. There are several signs along the street between Bruckner Boulevard and Southern Boulevard. However, drivers are continuing to go in the wrong direction.

Bronx drivers say there should be bigger signs noting the change. The Department of Transportation says it will work with the community board to make the conversion as safe and smooth as possible.
