Members of the Bronx Arab community celebrate Gaza pullout
Some members of the Bronx Muslim Center say Monday?s forceful withdrawal of Israeli settlers is the beginning of Palestinian independence.
Soldiers began serving notices to Israeli settlers telling them they must move out of the area by Wednesday or they will be forced out. Palestinians say they want to create their own state out of the Gaza strip and the entire West Bank. Israeli settlers began occupying the strip in 1967 after the Six-Day War.
Adversaries say they oppose the plan because Gaza is part of the traditional Jewish homeland. Opponents also say the evacuation will be a victory for terrorist and will lead to more attacks on Israel from Palestinian militant groups.
