Hunts Point may be site of new and controversial power plant

Hunts Point may be the site of another power plant in the south Bronx.

KeySpan, is one of several company?s bidding on the abandoned Oak Point Dump which was deserted 15 years ago due to alleged mob ties. KeySpan is proposing to build a new power plant on the site. However, the environmental group Sustainable South Bronx opposes the project saying the plant is a bad idea because the area is already overburdened with pollution.

KeySpan, who will fund the project, says the proposed plant would be a source for jobs and training.
