Bronx charities and community groups receive million dollar donations

The bank accounts of 17 Bronx charities and community groups benefited Friday during a presentation at City Hall.

After securing more than $4 million, Councilman Joel Rivera presented checks to different charities. Most of the money is being allotted to educational groups, particularly Boricua College, which received $1.2 million to open a Bronx campus.

Rivera says besides opening up higher educational facilities, the money is set to provide economical development in the Bronx, after-school programming for youths and will help restore Bronx landmarks.
