Riders can still expect delays following Amtrak derailment in Hunts Point

Amtrak riders can still expect lengthy delays and some cancellations Wednesday while Amtrak tries to repair damage incurred following a freight train derailment.

Amtrak service between Penn Station and New Haven, Connecticut was knocked out after a CSX freight derailed at the Oak Point Yard Station Tuesday. Amtrak says all Acela and Metroliner trains scheduled to operate between Boston and New York are canceled through Thursday.

According to Amtrak, the derailment caused extensive damage to overhead wires and at this point it is unclear how long repairs will take.

Metro-North says it will honor tickets for passengers traveling between Grand Central Station and New Haven as long as necessary.
