Minister accused of trying to grab child from Bronx apartment released on bail

A former minister accused of trying to push his way into a Bronx apartment and grab a 4-year-old boy was arraigned Thursday. Lawrence Craig, 44, is facing burglary and assault charges in connection with the incident. Police say Craig knocked on the door of the apartment on Saturday before trying to push his way in and grab the child. The woman in the apartment fought back and the suspect fled without the boy. At his arraignment, Craig said he was drunk when he knocked on the woman's door. He said he was looking for help and denies trying to take the child. Craig was released on $2,500 bail and is scheduled to appear in court August 29.
