Bronx residents looking to help with hurricane relief efforts don't have to go far

As National Guard troops head to the storm-ravaged Gulf Coast, Bronx residents don?t have to travel far to help with the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.

A group called Emergency Rights Incorporated in the Hub is looking for donations and volunteers to send to the south. Some of the items being collected are flashlights, batteries, clothing, water and diapers. Bronx residents are also being asked to donate their time.

Residents can drop off the donated items to the group?s location on East 149th Street. The group is also willing to pick up donations if necessary.
