PSAL makes changes to get more kids involved in post season

In an effort to get more kids involved in the post season, the PSAL has made some changes to its football playoff system. Beginning this fall, the top 16 teams will be included in a single elimination playoff for the city championship. After each round, the teams will be re-seeded until there is a champion. Bronx teams like Clinton, Kennedy and Lehman, which are rated Power 5 schools, would likely have a shot at making the playoff. Teams finishing 17 through 24 will play for the PSAL Bowl title. These eight teams will follow the same criteria as the city championship playoffs. Columbus and Evander would likely be competing for the PSAL Bowl, since they are rated Power 3 schools, but they still could accumulate enough points to make the top 16.
