Bronx residents show generosity by assisting hurricane victims

Bronx residents are showing their generosity is stronger than any Category 5 hurricane by donating their time and money to the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.

The Red Cross and Emergency Rights Incorporated are recruiting both volunteers and monetary donations. The Red Cross in the Bronx says in less than a week they have raised more than $1,000 and donations continue to come. The Red Cross will be collecting money for the next several months.

For those unable to give monetary donations, Emergency Rights says it is accepting lightly used clothing and canned foods. The organization is collecting enough goods to fill up a rented truck, which officials plan to drive down to New Orleans in mid-September.Related Story:
