New medical facility hopes to jump start Allerton businesses

Brooklyn residents say they hope a 17,000 square foot space on Bronxwood Avenue will help jump start Allerton?s commercial district.

The owner of the lot, Domenic Broccoli, says he wants to use the area for a medical facility. Broccoli who also owns Gino?s Café across the street from the proposed medical building says he wants the space to benefit the community.

Community leaders say they hope the development will spark other commercial interests. Community Board members say they want to revive the area and renovate it to its former stance.

Broccoli says he has not selected tenants for the doctors? offices. He also says he hopes to have the building?s shell completed by October.
