Bronx gas stations run out of fuel due to hurricane

Labor Day weekend generally involves barbecues and driving. However, with gas stations raising prices or running out of gas due to Hurricane Katrina, some Bronx residents are opting to stay at home for the holiday.

Two BP stations, one in Hunts Point the other on Rosedale Avenue, can attest to the nation?s gas shortage. Consumers pulling into the stations Saturday had to leave with the same thing they came with: an empty tank. A representative from BP says they were not receiving gas deliveries because of the holiday and damage to oil refineries in the Gulf Coast.

On Sunday morning, the stations had filled up their gas pumps and were back in business.Related Stories:
