Pelham Gardens residents says hospital causing lack of parking
Some Pelham Gardens residents say their neighborhood is wrongfully becoming a commercial parking lot for hospital employees.
Residents say they can not find parking spots by their homes due to employees from Jacobi Medical Center parking in their neighborhood. Although the hospital offers employee parking, neighbors say the medical attendants are not using it. Community Board 11 says Jacobi employees are taking up neighborhood parking because they do not want to pay for it at the hospital.
Jacobi spokesperson Michael Heller says the hospital has no plans to lower the estimated $200 a year parking price. However, Heller also says the hospital plans to issue a notice to employees to use facility parking.
