Teachers say Department of Education failed to reduce class size in the Bronx

Teachers and elected officials gathered at City Hall Thursday to criticize the city?s Department of Education?s failure to reduce class size in the Bronx.

The group ?Class Size Matters? says millions of dollars in funding has been secured for smaller classes. However, they say the Department of Education has failed to create any additional classes in kindergarten through third-grade. Many activists say they want to know where all the funding is going.

The Mayor?s Office says the school system needs more funding from the state to give students what they need.
