Mayor releases performance results for Bronx city agencies

With the Democratic primary just a day away, Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R-NY) reminded citizens Monday of the Republican contribution by releasing his Annual Management Report, which measures city agencies? performances.

Overall, most agencies received positive feedback. The mayor says schools are safer and 69 percent more high school students passed the English portion of the 2005 Regents exam. The mayor?s statistics are up by 15 percent from the 2000-2001 school year results. However, students? average on the math portion of the exam remains about the same and the four-year high school graduation rate has barely budged.

The mayor also praised his efforts in lowering unemployment, improving the area?s economy and creating the 311 complaint hotline. However, the mayor did not address the lack of contracts for teachers, firefighters and police.
