Bronx voters turn out to the polls for primary election

Primary day is here and eligible Bronx residents are urged to exercise their democratic right to vote.

When residents walk behind the black curtain they will be deciding on City Council members, public advocates and a Democrat mayoral candidate to run against Mayor Michael Bloomberg (R-NY).

The four primary contenders vying to run on the Democratic ticket for mayor are: Manhattan borough President C. Virginia Fields, former Bronx borough President Fernando Ferrer, City Council Speaker A. Gifford Miller (D-Manhattan) and Congressman Anthony Weiner (D-Brooklyn).

Bronx resident Fernando Ferrer got out early Monday morning to cast his vote.
