Weiner drops out of New York mayoral race, backs Ferrer

Congressman Anthony Weiner conceded the New York City Democratic mayoral primary to Fernando Ferrer Wednesday. Ferrer was a fraction of a point away from the 40 percent he needed to avoid a runoff against Weiner. Weiner, however, decided to drop out and endorse Ferrer, saying the party should not waste time and money as it seeks to unseat Mayor Bloomberg (R-NY). Official numbers from the New York City Board of Elections are expected in a few days. Related link:
