Pelham Bay residents concerned over new development plans

Many Pelham Bay residents are bracing themselves for a new stretch of homes slated for their neighborhood.

The debate centers on an old building used by the Smithsonian for artifact storage until it was sold to developer Jospeh Ciampa. Residents hoped Ciampa would use the building for storage, but instead he has decided to demolish it and build 40 homes despite community concerns. Some residents say the new development may overwhelm the neighborhood with traffic and other infrastructure problems.

Ciampa says the community reviewed the plans and they are entitled to their own opinion.
