Transit police hold event in Pelham Bay to raise money for diabetes

Bronx members of the New York Transit Police were patrolling a different beat Saturday when they participated in the annual Transit Bureau Family Day.

Saturday?s event, which was held at Pelham Bay Park, is a fundraiser for charity. This year the money raised through donations and a raffle will go to a children?s juvenile diabetes foundation. Participating officers displayed their musical talents by serving as DJ?s and donning an apron to grill hot dogs and hamburgers.

Organizers say they hope to either match or exceed last year?s total of more than $8,000.
