Bronx children learn first hand about marine life and boating

It was anchors away for some Bronx children from the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club who sailed to Oyster Bay in Long Island.

The children learned how to sail on an oyster boat, how to kayak and about the marine life that lives in the Long Island Sound. Saturday?s sailing expedition was planned to coordinate with National Estuary Day, which highlights the importance of protecting waterways nationwide.

Some of the participating children say this was not only their first boat trip but their first time to even see a ship.
