Number of complaints against the NYPD on the rise in the Bronx, cityPosted: Updated:
Bronx and city residents have increased their complaints against the NYPD this year, according to the Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB).
CCRB statistics show the number of complaints against police is up 8 percent this year compared with last year. Each complaint can contain multiple allegations. According to the CCRB, the number of allegations from January to August is up 16 percent this year. The four categories of allegations are abuse of authority, misuse of force, discourtesy and offensive language.
A CCRB spokesperson told the New York Post the increase is part of a three-year trend. He says it is partially linked to the increased number of callers using the city?s 311 hotline.
