Widow of FDNY lieutenant who died in Bronx fire files suit against the city

The widow of a FDNY lieutenant who died in a Bronx fire filed a lawsuit against the city Wednesday.

Jeannette Meyran blames the city and the FDNY for the wrongful death of her husband Curtis Meyran. Lieutenant Meyran and another firefighter were killed when they jumped out of a fourth-floor window of a burning building in January.

The suit blames the FDNY for not having safety ropes for firefighters. It also faults the owners of the building on East 178th Street, which was illegally subdivided.
