Date for Hunts Point Fulton Fish Market opening may be determined

The date for the opening of the Hunts Point Fulton Fish Market could be determined Friday.

City officials and Laros Service System, the company that unloads fish at Fulton Fish Market?s Manhattan site, head back to court to settle unloading differences. Last week, Laros filed a lawsuit against the city to keep the unloading jobs when the market moves to its Bronx location. City officials argue merchants should be allowed to unload their own fish.

A judge ruled the market should remain in Manhattan until the case is settled. If the judge rules to eliminate Laros from the new market plans, merchants can begin their move. The Fulton Fish Market was originally slated to move to the Bronx in January.
