Bronx charter school gives children an international perspective
A Bronx charter school dedicated to giving young children an international perspective commemorated its opening.
Officials say the South Bronx Charter School for International Cultures and Arts is a one of a kind school. The school celebrates its curriculum through the arts. The kindergarteners and first-graders all learn in a dual language program. Half the day is taught in English and the other half in Spanish. The school?s principal says the bilingual and bicultural education prepares children for a global job market.
The school intends to expand to include children up to fifth-grade. The location in Mott Haven is only temporary. Officials say they are still scouting to find a permanent location for the school.
