Organization tries to help homeless in Pelham Bay

As the number of homeless individuals in Pelham Bay continues to climb, so does the number of relief efforts. One such effort includes the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), which provides various programs to help those Bronx residents in need.

One branch of CAB is the Homeless Outreach Team (HOT), an organization that tries to find housing for the homeless. HOT operates 24 hours a day, seven days week. Members from HOT scour Bronx streets looking for individuals in need of their services. HOT provides homeless men and women with food, referrals to shelters and drug treatment centers, case management and counseling, crisis intervention and emergency medical and psychiatric services.

CAB estimates there are at least 300 homeless individuals in the Bronx.
