Officer injured in hit-and-run on Hunts Point Avenue

Police are investigating a hit-and-run on Hunts Point Avenue that sent one of their officers to the hospital.

Witnesses say a gray Acura Integra sped out of control Friday, hit a double parked mini-van and then pinned an officer between the van and a parked car. Witnesses say after the Acura hit another vehicle, the driver got out of the car and then ran away. Witnesses say the hit-and-run driver is a Hispanic male and weighs an estimated 180 pounds.

The wounded officer was sent to Jacobi Medical Center where he is in stable condition after suffering an injury to his right leg. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
