More than 20,000 Bronx residents sailed over to Morris Park Avenue to celebrate the 29th annual Columbus Day Parade.

Although Columbus Day is officially celebrated on the second Monday of October, the parade was held early due to the weekend. Seventy-five various organizations, schools and clubs as well as 13 different bands marched in honor of the Italian-American celebration.

Organizers say like Christopher Columbus who received donations to make his voyage possible, they received more than $40,000 in donations to make their parade?s route a success too.
