Outdoor Bronx camp teaches inner-city kids valuable lessons
More Bronx children have climbed a concrete jungle gym as opposed to a tree. However, CampInteractive is helping Bronx and other inner-city children learn more about the creative outdoors and resources of technology to encourage self-esteem and team work.
CampInteractive is a year-round non-profit organization that takes kids on journeys they would not otherwise have been witness to. Attendants say before CampInteractive many of the outings they have participated they had only seen in movies, like a hiking trip through the Catskill Mountains. This Saturday campers and organizers gathered at a local park to plant flowers to encourage growth from Mother Nature and inner-growth among the kids.
CampInteractive is open to low-income Bronx children between the ages of eight and 18.
