Report shows Bronx, city residents find it hard to provide for families
A new report released by the Community Service Society in New York shows low-income Bronx and city residents are finding it harder to provide for their families.
According to the report, more than half of the people surveyed are struggling. Some problems low-income residents say they run into are falling behind on rent and having difficulty feeding their families. However, the report states that healthcare is the greatest worry for low-income residents. Forty-one percent of respondents say they were unable to fulfill a needed prescription and 36 percent say they postponed medical treatment for lack of insurance.
Community Service Society officials say the city needs to attract more minimum wage jobs. They add minimum wage needs to be indexed to inflation.
