New housing complex sparks debate in Morris Park

Some Bronx politicians say an affordable housing complex being built in Morris Park will be a hindrance more than a help to residents.

Once completed, the White Plains Courtyards will house hundreds of low-income families. However, some politicians say Morris Park does not have the room for the housing unit. Politicians say many of the area?s schools are already more than 120 percent over-populated. Government officials also say residents have enough parking problems and the complex will cause more traffic congestion.

The site?s developer says he will continue building the unit and will not adhere to politicians? demands.
