Bronx parents asked to ensure safety while kids ask for candy

Halloween is poking around the corner and officials say to prevent being scared, parents should follow tips to ensure their children are wearing the safest costumes possible.

Workers at costume stores in the Bronx say to make sure the costumes are made out of fireproof material. Officials also say to add strips of reflective tape to both the front and back of the trick-or-treaters costume to guarantee visibility. Since forecasters are predicting residents will receive goose-bumps from both scary pranks and the chilly weather, costumes should be loose enough to wear warm clothing underneath.

Officials also say in addition to creating a safe costume, parents should create a safe environment and not let children leave the house without an adult.
