Proposed Medicaid cut will affect quality of Bronx health care
The federal government is discussing whether to cut $10 billion from Medicaid, thus affecting several low-income Bronx families.
Medicaid provides health insurance to more than 50 million Americans nationwide. The program was devised to help cover medical expenses for Bronx and other low-income individuals throughout the nation. If Medicaid suffers such a drastic financial cut, it could mean disabled individuals along with those in nursing homes and in foster care will not receive adequate medical attention.
The Energy and Commerce Committee will vote on the issue October 26. If the budget cut is approved, it will then move for an early November vote by Congress.
