City plans to revamp early childcare in the Bronx

The Administration for Children?s Services (ACS) presented a plan Tuesday to reform the Bronx and other New York early child care systems.

The plan, which will affect more than 135,000 children under 6 years old, will create more services in areas needing early child care programs. It will also monitor the quality of care by creating uniform standards. The plan also outlined a shift in current resources and the need to hold staff members more responsible.

ACS members say the plan will be phased in over the next several years.
