Two Bronx residents run to top of best runners' list
Most people are satisfied to be able to complete a marathon at all, however, two Bronx residents take it one mile farther by holding the title as some of the best long distance runners in the world.
Retta Feyissa and Kassahen Kabiso can run 26.2 miles in an estimated two hours. In 2004, they finished in the top 30 at the New York City Marathon. The native Ethiopians are more than competitors, they are roommates as well as self-described best friends. Both Feyissa and Kabiso say they have stepped up their goals and hope to finish in the top 10 during this year?s race.
The men?s coach says the Bronx attracts runners globally since Van Cortlandt Park is an ideal place to train and the area has affordable housing.
