Bronx charter school to close its doors after two short years

A Bronx charter school that has only been serving students since 2003 will be closing its doors after this year.

Bronx students who attend the ReadNet Bronx Charter School will have to find another place to learn. Directors at the school voted against renewing the school?s charter. Charter schools are required to renew their charters every five years. School officials say the school opened two years late because of space constraints. The school also faced financial hardships because officials expected it to expand further than it had.Parents were sent letters about an emergency meeting being held Wednesday on the school?s closing. The meeting is being held at the school at 6 p.m. Those who cannot attend can call the school?s hotline at (212) 437-8380.
