Bronx residents place among top NYC Marathon competitors

Two Bronx residents crossed the finish line at the 36th annual New York City Marathon Sunday, placing among the top competitors in the world.

Kassahun Kabiso and Retta Feyissa are both Ethiopian natives who currently live and train in Van Cortland Park. After months of strenuous training, Kabiso finished in 19th place while Retta placed 31st among the men?s elite division. The two men along with an estimated 37,000 other competitors ran 26.2 miles throughout the five boroughs.

Retta and Kabiso say Sunday?s race was not their last. The two men say they plan to compete in another marathon in December.
