Columbus hoped to score more than a win against George Washington

The Christopher Columbus High School football team wanted more than a solitary win against George Washington ? they wanted to advance to the PSAL Championship Tournament.

Before Sunday?s game, the Blue Steelers were ranked number 17 in the PSAL standings. In order to advance into the top-16 team tournament, Columbus had to beat the Trojans.

Columbus played defiantly throughout all four quarters only faltering in the third when the Trojans scored their first and only touchdown, leaving the score 13-6. However, the Blue Steel was not going to let the Trojans cross the end zone again, winning the game 20-6. Columbus is now ranked number 15 and will take on the PSAL?s second seed team Port Richmond on November 12.
