Fulton Fish Market officially moving to Hunts Point this weekend

The Fulton Fish Market is officially moving to its new home in Hunts Point this weekend, according to the Hunts Point Economic Development Corporation.

A suit filed by the fish unloading company, Laro Services, against the city and the market's wholesalers was settled out of court Monday. Under the settlement, Laro Services will continue unloading fish for three years at the new Hunts Point location. After that, the wholesalers who run the market can ask the city for permission to take over the unloading responsibilities.

The market had been a billion dollar industry in its old location. Officials are expecting the new location to play a larger economic role in Hunts Point.
