BX voters approve plan for billions for transportation projects
Voters in the Bronx approved the Transportation Funding Act , which allows the state to borrow $2.9 billion for transportation projects statewide.
Half of the money will go to the MTA, which has committed to completing the first segment of the 2nd Avenue subway. Another project made possible by the funding was a link between the Long Island Rail Road and Grand Central Terminal.
Proposition Four was also approved making some of the provisions of the state Financial Emergency Act permanent. However, voters rejected the state Legislature's attempt to gain control of the governor?s budget making power.
