Robberies at knifepoint have many Bronx residents on edge

Police are telling Bronx residents to be extra cautious due to a series of robberies involving a man who is following women into elevators.

According to police, the suspect has robbed several women at knifepoint, demanding their jewelry and money. Authorities say all of the robberies are within the 40th and 42nd Precincts. Residents say despite police surveillance, they worry they are not being protected and want increased security. Police describe the suspect as a black male in his mid-30s.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to please call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
