Many Bronx subway stations closed for repairs

Bronx commuters should allot more time to travel this weekend due to construction on several subway lines.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) says it has to shut down several subway stations throughout the Bronx and the city in order to finish construction before the holidays. The work is part of the MTA?s $10 billion renovation program aimed to make the subway system safer and more reliable.

The MTA says certain lines next weekend will also experience closures. MTA officials also add that after Thanksgiving, construction will only be done for emergency repairs.
