Bronx landlords required to provide adequate amount of heat for tenants

With the snow comes the bitter cold temperatures, and Bronx tenants should be aware that their landlord must meet certain heating requirements. The Department of Housing Preservation and Development has established requirements for landlords to provide an adequate amount of heat to tenants. Between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., if the temperature outside falls below 55 degrees, then the temperature inside must be at least 68 degrees. If the temperature outside falls below 40 degrees between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., the temperature inside an apartment must be at least 55 degrees.Any Bronx resident without heat should call their landlord. If the heat isn?t restored the tenant should call 311.
