Department of Education to keep principal program running in BX, the city
The city?s Department of Education will reportedly begin funding a principal training program to keep it running in the Bronx and the city.
The Leadership Academy, a $70 million program, was created to provide schools with trained principals. According to the New York Times, the Department of Education will now pick up the cost of the salaries and benefits of the program?s trainees.
So far, 180 people have taken part in the program during its first two years and 113 of them are working as principals. During the training, participants are paid to shadow principals for 14 months.
