FDNY offers BX residents fire safety tips for holiday season
The FDNY is offering Brooklyn residents fire safety tips for the holiday season.
The holidays may be full of cheer, but when it comes to the risk of fire Christmas could be deadly. The holidays are especially dangerous because Christmas trees are highly flammable. The FDNY says fire related deaths more than double at this time of year. Fire officials suggest residents turn off their Christmas tree lights at night, blow out candles and make sure all smoke detectors are working.
The FDNY also says since Christmas trees are prone to fires, residents should water their tree regularly and remove it shortly after the holidays.
