City Island residents afraid of the dark on Shore Road

Many residents in City Island are afraid of what could happen down Shore Road without any lights.

Residents say the lights on the road have been broken for almost a year. Many say the dark road is dangerous for drivers, joggers, bikers and animals. They hope the repairs happen soon.

The Department of Transportation (DOT), Con Edison and the parks department met last week to discuss who was responsible for the problem. A DOT spokesperson says a broken transformer needs to be repaired before any progress is made. There is no timetable for when any of the repairs will be made.
