Bronx minimum wage workers set to receive bigger paychecks

Bronx minimum wage workers, along with workers across the state, will soon be receiving bigger paychecks.

The state minimum wage is set to rise from $6 an hour to $6.75 on January 1. The increase will affect at least 360,000 New Yorkers. The raise is part of a three-year increase approved by the state Legislature. By 2007, the minimum wage will reach $7.15.

Another change that will occur in the new year is a lower state income tax for those earning between $150,000 and $500,000 a year. Those who earn more than $500,000 a year will also see a decline in taxes.
