City agency says child care services in BX, city may soon suffer

Plans to improve child care services in the Bronx and city are in the works, but one city agency says those plans may not happen.

Mayor Bloomberg recently pledged to improve the quality and efficiency of the system that thousands of children use. IBO officials say the federal government used to help with 60 percent of the child care budget, but that is diminishing.

IBO officials say so far, the city has been able to make up for the lack of federal funding. However, they do not know how long the Bloomberg administration can afford to do that.
